APC Kwara Congress

 In Kwara State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially returned and affirmed Sunday Fagbemi as the State Chairman, alongside 33 other executive members, for another four-year term in office.

The affirmation followed the State Congress supervised by national officials of the party, led by the Congress Chairman, Alkali Alibe, who declared the executives duly elected and returned unopposed.

Party stalwarts and members from across the 16 local government areas of the state thronged the congress venue in a show of unity and solidarity.

In attendance were the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the three senators representing the state at the National Assembly among others.

Ogun State APC Congress

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has elected Yemi Sanusi and 35 others as members of its State Executive Committee for a four-year term.

The election was ratified through a voice affirmation by 1,180 delegates and statutory delegates at the State Congress held today at the June 12 Cultural Centre Abeokuta. 

The exercise was supervised by the APC Congress Committee Chairman, Wale Ohu, alongside officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Yemi Sanusi was re-elected as State Chairman. Other officials elected include Aminat Adigun as State Women Leader, Aderibigbe Tella as State Secretary, and Yemi Adelani as State Organising Secretary.

APC Congress Lagos

Cornelius Ojelabi Re-Elected Party Chairman.

The All Progressives Congress APC Lagos State Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi has been returned in office to steer the affairs of the party for a second tenure following the state congress conducted in the state today by the Stella Okotete led congress committee.                                 

Ojelabi was cleared to continue as the Party’s State Chairman through a consensus arrangement with the party delegates who converged on Mobolaji Johnson stadium, Onikan stadium for the party's congress.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in his remark acknowledged the peaceful conduct of delegates noting that the APC structure in the state is next to none in the federation. 

EFCC Vs Yahaya Bello

Court to rule on admissibility of property documents in EFCC, Yahaya Bello case.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed March 9, 2026 to rule on the admissibility of documents sought to be tendered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC in the alleged money laundering trial of the former Governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello.

Justice Emeka Nwite adjourned for ruling after hearing arguments from both prosecution and defence on whether or not the property documents should be admitted in evidence.

The disputed documents included a title deed and an irrevocable power of attorney relating to a property located in Gwarinpa, Abuja, allegedly sold by Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company to Azba Real Estate Limited for 100 million naira. 

The documents were said to have been endorsed by Mubarak Dantata on behalf of the construction firm and Ali Bello for the purchasing company.

Counsel to the former governor, Joseph Daudu, S.A.N, objected to their admissibility, arguing that the documents were not properly certified by the appropriate authority.

He contended that as instruments relating to landed property, they must be duly registered and certified by the Abuja Geographical Information Service (AGIS) to have evidential value. 

Although the documents bore certification from the EFCC, Daudu maintained that the anti-graft agency lacked the statutory authority to certify such instruments.

Lead prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, S.A.N, urged the court to admit the documents, stating that they were relevant to establishing the transaction between the companies involved.

Justice Nwite subsequently adjourned the matter to March 9 for ruling on the admissibility of the contested documents.

NICA Confers Fellowship On Polaris And Union Bank CEOs Others....

The National Institute of Credit Administration (NICA) has at an investiture ceremony recently held in Lagos conferred its prestigious Fellowship on the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Polaris Bank, Kayode Lawal, alongside other distinguished leaders across Nigeria’s financial and corporate landscape.

The NICA Fellowship represents the institute’s highest professional distinction and it is usually awarded to individuals whose leadership has significantly strengthened Nigeria’s credit environment, institutional governance frameworks, and financial system integrity.

304th CBN/MPC Meeting

 Union Bank Reacts To CBN Cardoso’s Remarks With Calm Assurance

              

Union Bank of Nigeria has issued a statement in response to a recent media briefing queries at the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) 304th Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting; reaffirming its steadfast position in the course of ongoing regulatory engagements.

The bank's affirmation comes in the wake of Governor Olayemi Cardoso's clarification on the regulatory framework governing institutions under intervention while speaking on the complexities and structural considerations influencing the recapitalisation timeline.

CBN Governor Cardoso had said institutions currently under regulatory oversight are subject to unique circumstances that necessitate a differentiated approach, distinct from those institutions that have had an extended period to prepare for recapitalisation.

 The clarification was made in direct response to queries raised by journalists seeking insight into the operational status of banks under intervention.

Union Bank's Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, Mrs Olufunmilola Aluko explained that the CBN Governor's remarks aligned with Union Bank's consistent messaging to stakeholders reiterating that Union Bank remains a going concern with stable operations, resilient franchise and uninterrupted service delivery. 

Aluko explained that the apex bank Governor’s remarks reinforces what has consistently been Union Bank's position in all engagements with stakeholders; noting that Union Bank remains under strong regulatory oversight and active supervisory engagement.

She noted that the bank has maintained and continued to maintain that all customer deposits are safe and secure, noting that the position has not changed.

Ag. IGP Olatunji Disu Assumes Duty 

The newly appointed Acting Inspector General of Police IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu PSC has assumed duty as the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police. 

He takes over from IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun (Rtd) who served meritoriously as the 22nd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police from 19th June 2023 to 24th February 2026.

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, born on 13th April, 1966, hails from Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State. His educational qualifications include: MSC Entrepreneurship, NOUN (2023); MSC Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology, LASU (2022); Advanced Diploma in Forensic Investigation and Criminal Intelligence, UNILAG (2019), MSC, Public Administration, Adekunle Ajasin University (2010), PGD International Relations and Strategic Studies, LASU (2000) and B.A English (Education), LASU (1990).

He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on 18th May, 1992, and brings to the office a wealth of operational, investigative, intelligence, and administrative experience garnered over decades of distinguished service in various strategic capacities across the country. Until his appointment, he was Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.
