STATE OF EMERGENCY: House of Reps Sets Up Oversight Committee for Rivers

Nigeria's Green Chamber; the House of Representatives has set up an Ad-Hoc Committee to oversee the Rivers State administrator Ibok-Ete Ibas following President Bola Tinubu's declaration of a state of emergency in the state and its ratification by the National Assembly.

In a statement signed by the House of Representatives spokesperson Akin Rotimi (Jnr) the decision of the house is in furtherance of its constitutional mandate and commitment to transparent governance.

Rotimi Jr explained that the decision followed the resolution of the National Assembly approving the proclamation with amendments.

The committee which is expected to be inaugurated by the speaker on Tuesday April 15, 2025 is headed by the House Leader Julius Ihonvbere while House Minority Whip Ali Isa was appointed as the deputy.
