Lawmakers Condemn Senator Dickson's Comments On Emergency Rule

The Rivers State caucus at the National Assembly has condemned the recent comments on emergency rule made by the Senator representing Bayelsa West Seriake Dickson describing his remarks on the political situation in the state as not only misleading but inciting and dangerous.

The leader of the caucus Kingsley Chinda senator representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency stated this while briefing journalists in Abuja.

 RIVERS STATE EMERGENCY RULE

Chinda expressed disappointment over Senator Dickson's June 12 Democracy day outburst describing the emergency rule in Rivers State as a constitutional move by President Bola Tinubu to restore peace and order amid the political turmoil and threats to public peace.

Chinda described the Sole Administrator of Rivers State Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas(Rtd.) as a civilian by virtue of his retirement from the military just as senator Dickson retired from the Nigeria Police Force, noting that the impression that Rivers State is under military rule is a gross misrepresentation.

The caucus also insisted that the lawmaker's  call for the reinstatement of the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara by President Bola Tinubu was a deliberate move to incite unrest in Rivers State adding that his comments could mar the fragile peace efforts being made.

The caucus reaffirmed its commitment to peace democratic governance and safety of the people of Rivers State warning against unguarded comments from political actors outside the state.
