IDPs In Yelwata Community Benue State Receive Relief Items From Fidelity Bank

In a timely gesture aimed at bettering the plight of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue State a leading financial institution Fidelity Bank Plc has distributed relief materials and food items to over 2,000 victims of the Yelwata attacks who are taking refuge at the Ultra-Modern International Market IDP Camp in Makurdi the state capital.

The distribution of items done in collaboration with the Abbasid Charity Foundation, is part of Fidelity Bank’s ongoing commitment to support the vulnerable communities through its flagship Fidelity Food Bank program.

Since the launch of the CSR program in April 2023 the Food Bank has distributed over 200,000 food

packs to beneficiaries across the six geo-political zones of the country.

Speaking at the donation exercise the Divisional Head Brand and Communications 

 Fidelity Bank Meksley Nwagboh reaffirmed the bank's dedication to Corporate Social Responsibility and its mission to uplift communities.

Nwagboh explained that since the Fidelity Food Bank initiative was launched it has helped to alleviate the effect of poverty and malnutrition across the country. 

In her remarks the Executive Officer of the Abbasid Charity Foundation Hawa Abbas emphasised the importance of restoring dignity to displaced persons stating that the donation of mattresses was to ensure IDPs do not sleep on bare floors.

The Executive Secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Dr. James Iorpuu, who was represented by the Camp Manager Robert Nyom expressed deep appreciation to Fidelity Bank and the Abbasid Charity Foundation for their timely support.

The bank's outreach to the International Market IDP Camp in Makurdi is the most recent of its ongoing critical and timely interventions.

Prior to this warm gesture Fidelity Bank PLC has provided essential food items to more than 1,500 residents affected by the recent flood disaster in Mokwa, Niger State through its food bank initiative
