President Tinubu Declares 7 Days Of Mourning To Honour Ex- President Muhammadu Buhari
Outpour of tributes have continued to flow in following the death of Nigeria's former President Muhammadu Buhari who died aged 82 on Sunday July 13, 2025 in a London hospital.
Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria's military head of state; a Major General who served from December 31st 1983 to August 27th 1985 was born on December 17 1942 in Daura Katsina State North West Nigeria.
In a statement by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga former President Buhari died at about 4:30 p.m. after taking ill for some period of time.
President Tinubu has described the late Buhari as a patriot, a soldier and a statesman to the core noting that his legacy of sacrifice and nation-building would endure for generations.
Tinubu said Buhari served Nigeria with unwavering dedication; first as a military leader from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023.
Hence as part of national arrangements in honour of the departed Nigerian leader and elder statesman President Tinubu has directed that all national flags be flown at half mast while directing Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to travel to London United Kingdom to accompany the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria.
The delegates have arrived the United Kingdom and were received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar and the Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum.
