Union Bank Takes Front Lead In Anti-Plastic Pollution In Nigeria
Union Bank PLC a leading financial institution in Nigeria has reaffirmed commitment to its “SimplerSmarter Banking” slogan to ensure an unwavering support to empowering individuals businesses and communities through innovative solutions and sustainable initiatives.Hence in commemoration of the World Environment Day marked annually on June 5 Union Bank PLC in its practice has continued to champion the course on sustainable environmental practices in Nigeria.The bank at a symposium themed “Ending Plastic Pollution” recently held at the Lekki Conservation Centre Lagos partnered the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) to mark the World Environment Day.
A high impact gathering of environmentalists corporate leaders students among other dignitaries who had come together to address the pressing challenges of plastic pollution as well championing innovative solutions for a cleaner future.The symposium had participants deeply engage in thought provoking discussions centered on the environmental and economic risks plastic waste pose to society.
While speaking at the event the Chief Brand and Marketing Officer Union Bank PLC Olufunmilola Aluko said, Union Bank's sustainability initiative goes beyond banking; as the bank remains dedicated to empowering communities with knowledge and resources such as recycling initiatives to tackle plastic pollution as well rejuvenate the environment.This Aluko said is in line with the bank's commitment of impacting young ones through educational outreaches of secondary schools in Lagos, donating recycling bins and raising awareness on environmental preservation among Nigerians.These efforts are part of the bank’s broader UnionCares programme which drives impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives across Nigeria.
