Industry Big Wigs Set To Brainstorm On CNII Bill And Its Sustainability

The Nigeria Information Technology Reporters Association(NITRA) a body of seasoned ICT journalists in collaboration with the Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) say all is set to chart the way forward on securing the nation's critical national infrastructure with focus on ICT.

In June 2024 the Federal Government came up with an order tagged "Designation and Protection of Critical National Information Infrastructure Order 2024" as signed by President Bola Tinubu.

The order which seeks to enhance the protection of Nigeria's Information Communication Technology (ICT) systems is an extension of the Cybercrimes Prohibition, Prevention Amendment Act 2024 which aims to safeguard critical national assets such as telecom infrastructures, fiber cables data centers among others.

In spite of the order Nigeria has continued to experience a significant increase in fiber cuts and network disruptions raising concerns about its implementation. 

Hence an urgent need for telecom industry watchers such as NITRA ALTON among other relevant agencies to deliberate on securing the nation's ICT infrastructures by all means.

The NITRA, ALTON CNII and Sustainability Conference 2025 themed: "Critical National ICT Infrastructure and Industry Sustainability- Way Forward" is scheduled to hold on Wednesday July 30th 2025 by 9am at the CitiHeight Hotel Ikeja Lagos.
